Ten Questions About Me!

What is your favorite designer and why?

I’ve got several designers that I love so it would be hard to pick just one!  However, I love the classic look of Calvin Klein and Ralph Lauren.  You can never really go wrong with these two.

What are your favorite stores?

I think Lane Bryant are Torrid probably the plus size girl’s Mecca but there are some other great places out there where you won’t be in danger of wearing what everyone else is wearing.  Like, Avenue and Belk’s, also online shopping is a must for being unique.  I also indulge in some lower end shopping like Cato’s, CitiTrends or It’s Fashions!  Sue me!  LOL

What is your strongest area in terms of fashion?

I incorporate a sense of adventure into my wardrobe.  I may see something in the store that I hate but i’ll try it on anyway and realize that I like it!  I also try my best to break some of the rules out there for plus size women.

What are you weaknesses?

Sometimes I get frustrated and overwhelmed more often that I should when it comes to find something to wear.  I also spend waaaaaay too much money on my wardrobe.

What magazines do you read?

Instyle magazine is my style guidebook.  I love looking at new trends and seeing what the celebs are doing.  I’d say Vogue but I feel that Instyle is a little more practical.

What made you decide to step into the plus size fashion field?

I constantly have people coming up to me and asking me where I purchase things and asking how much I paid for things.  I really wanted to branch out and invite others to take this adventure with me.  So with that being said, my goal isn’t to give advice or to guide others but it is to open a window and allow others to see my journey.  Hopefully this will show that they are not alone and maybe provide a little help too!

How would you describe your personal style?

In a few words: classic, romantic, functional, comfortable, and a splash of trendy.

What is your biggest obstacle when dressing your plus size body?

I have a hard time finding pants that are flattering.  If it fits in the waist, it’s terribly large in the leg and if it fits in the legs, I can’t button it.  :o( !!!

What is the biggest fashion mistake a plus size woman can make when choosing their wardrobe?

Probably not choosing the right foundation garments.  These are important.  I’ve seen some beautiful women in beautiful outfits who could have taken these outfits to the next level if only they wore proper under garments.

For our customers who are purchasing plus size clothing, what’s your best advice to get them started in the right direction?

Don’t be afraid to step out of the box and break the rules.  Some examples are:  choosing a garment because of the size number on the tag.  In some stores I’ve had to wear all the way up to a 28 and in some I can wear down to a 22.  Decide on a garment using the FIT not the number.  Break the rules that are out there and find the right look for you!
